Home Remedies for Sunburn
  • Water: when exposed to the sun, your body loses water and essential body salts. Dehydration occurs when your body loses too much fluid, and begins to reabsorb fluid from the blood and other body tissues. To prevent the consequences of dehydration, increase your fluid intake to ensure you adequately re-hydrate your body for optimum recovery and health.
  • Cover up: The Skin Cancer Foundation says that hats and clothing made of dark, tightly woven materials absorb ultraviolet light better than cotton fabrics in lighter shades. Dry fabrics offer more protection than wet ones. This is one of the useful home remedies for sunburn.
  • Make a paste of one Bayer-type aspirin (crushed), aloe Vera gel, and vitamin A & D cream from a tube. Mix it together crushing up the aspirin as much as possible to have the large pieces crushed into small grains, as smooth a paste as you can make. It will make the blisters go down and absorb the redness and the pain goes away also.
  • Mix one egg white with one tsp honey and hazel. Apply this on the bruised area and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Later wash it with luke warm water. This is one of the useful home remedies for sunburn Treatment.
  • Eat lots of lean, and high quality protein foods. Also include raw fruits to supply the vitamins and minerals needed.
  • A cool milk compress is one of the best home remedies for sunburn. Dab your skin with cool whole milk for 20 minutes and the rinse it off with cool water.
  • While going outdoors wear good quality sunglasses and apply good quality sunscreen creams whose SPF is 30 or above. Do not use harsh soaps to wash sun burn.
  • Dip some gauze into milk and apply it to your sunburned skin. The tannic acid in the tea draws the burn out of the skin and heals it. After just one application, most sunburns are no longer painful and are much less red. However, this treatment will act on the pain but may not prevent peeling.
  • Boil lettuce leaves for ten minutes, strain off and chill the water (cool, not cold) and apply it to burned skin. Some dermatologists also recommend this. One of the popular home remedies for Sunburn.
  • Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is commonly used to treat sunburn. As well as providing soothing relief, it may also assist in the healing process. Apply to the affected areas as needed. Although the gel extracted directly from an aloe Vera plant works best, if you don’t have ready access to one, you may use an ‘over the counter’ Aloe Vera Cream that contains the gel.
  • Apply a mixture of one part olive oil and one part vinegar to affected areas and wash it after an hour. This is another good home remedies for sunburn.
  • Make mixture of wheat flour mixed with milk, olive oil, or barley flour, honey, and raw egg white paste. It will be a best facial for sunburn skin.
  • Be careful between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M: The sun\'s rays are most intense during this time of the day. Stay indoors during this time, or if you must be outdoors, cover up and wear sunscreen.
