How to remove ringworm?

Ringworm is not a worm at all but a fungus. It is called ringworm because it leaves a little circular mark on the skin that looks somewhat like a worm trail. It is an airborne fungus, which makes it highly contagious, and it can spread to humans. Humans can contact it from their pets simply by touching their pet’s bedding.

Causes of Ringworm:
  • Ringworm can be passed from one person to the other by direct skin-to-skin contact or by contact with contaminated articles such as unwashed clothing, and shower or pool surfaces. Pets like dogs and cats that carry fungus can cause ringworm. The other causes of ringworm are prolonged wetness of the skin and the minor injuries of the skin and nails.
  • Another cause of ringworm is using clothes, towels of the person suffering from ringworm or other skin disease. This infectious disease is caused also due to pets like dogs and cats and also through the untreated prolonging wounds on the body.

Home Remedies for Ringworm:

  • Raw papaya is one of the most effective home remedies for ringworm. The slices of this fruit should be rubbed on the ringworm patches. A paste made from dried papaya seeds can also be applied beneficially on these ringworm patches.
  • Apply the juice of raw turmeric externally to the parts of the skin affected by ringworm. Simultaneously, one teaspoon of turmeric juice mixed with an equal quantity of honey should be taken orally for ringworm cure. This is also one of the good home remedies for ringworm.
  • Bathe daily. You can\'t wash away ringworm, but a daily bath or shower may hinder its spread and provide some itch relief. "No astringent, gritty or germ-fighting soaps are needed," says Dr. Bark. Just use a plain gentle soap to keep the area clean. Avoid harsh scrubbing; it will only aggravate the lesion."
  • The use of castor oil is good for the scalp ringworm treatment. The oil should be rubbed on the affected areas of the hair regularly. One of the very effective home remedies for Ringworm.
  • To begin with, the patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for about five days. He should take three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits such as apples, oranges, papayas, pineapples, and pomegranates at five-hourly intervals. This will help eliminate morbid matter from the body and lead to substantial improvement.
  • Lemon is another effective home remedies for the treatment of ringworm. Take a lime and cut into two pieces. Take a piece and spread common salt over its inner portion. Then apply it over the infected area, slowly and then apply little force and try to scrub the infected skin. After that wash it off with water and dry it with clean, soft towel. Do this till the infection is treated completely.
  • Fruits and salt-free raw or steamed vegetables with whole-wheat chapatis may be taken after the all-fruit diet. After a few days curd and milk may be added to the diet.
  • A light mudpack applied over the areas of the ringworm is helpful. The pack should be applied for half an hour twice in a day.
  • One of the most effective home remedies for ringworm is the use of mustard seeds. A paste made from the seed can be applied over the affected areas.
